Encana Lawson 25-13H-1 Sets a New Record
Trinidad Rig # 124 may be temporarily (we hope) exiting the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale. Word is it is headed for the Permian Basin.
And, the crew wasn't satisfied with its Thanksgiving record TMS drilling of the Amite County Encana Mathis 29-17H-1 to a depth of 20,730 foot and a lateral of 9,169 foot.
They wanted to raise the bar even higher, in case some whippersnapper decided to one up them while they are away.
So, yesterday they set a new record on the Downtown Gillsburg EnCana Lawson 25-13H-1 of 22,075 foot and an estimated (by me) lateral of over 10,000 foot.
For those trying to gain a little perspective...that's nearly 2 miles.
Wow!
This will be close to 40 stages. What is more amazing is that from this same pad last year about this time, the Trinidad 124 was struggling with the Lawson 25 and only completed a roughly 4,000 foot lateral.
A lot has been learned in a year.
