Bergold Lateral Cut Short

Posted by bernell on November 28, 2018

In a news release today and linked below, Australis Oil and Gas announced it would complete the Bergold 29H-2 with a lateral of roughly 2,000 ft. after encountering unusual formation issues.  In a previous announcement Australis reported a successful drilling of the Stewart 30H-1 well from the same pad as the Bergold well.  The Stewart well should have a normal lateral of over 7,000 ft.  The pad for these wells are located roughly 1.5 miles east of the Gillsburg community in southeast Amite County, Mississippi just north of Hwy 584. Australis plans to begin fracturing operations on these two wells in December.

As some may recall the spud well assigned to drill the Stewart and Bergold wells encountered difficulties with the first 3,200 foot drill of the Bergold, as well, supporting the company’s conclusion that the formation in the targeted Bergold 29H-2 drill was not typical to the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale area.

Meanwhile, the Nabors B-14 rig will move from the Bergold/Stewart site to the Williams 26H-2 and Taylor 27H-1 pad where the water protection drills for the first 3,200 ft. have already been cemented in place by the Monclua #3 spud rig.  Assuming no unusual issues, the drilling of these two new wells could be completed by the end of January of 2019.

The Williams/Taylor site is located roughly 1½ miles west of Gillsburg south of Bean Road, also in the southeastern portion of Amite County, Mississippi.
